Merimbula Airport Master Plan

Our team’s involvement at Merimbula Airport commenced in 2012 when we were engaged by Bega Valley Shire Council to prepare the Merimbula Airport Master Plan 2013.

The Master Plan set out the strategic development of the tightly constrained airport site including terminal/RPT apron relocation, runway extensions, and private and commercial general aviation hangars. We were subsequently centrally involved in the design and approval process for a series of airport expansion projects associated with the Master Plan.

The planning and design of these projects involved refining the concept layouts to a level suitable for environmental approvals, aviation regulatory compliance and construction. Components include runway ‘starter extensions’, to provide additional take-off length while respecting constraints on obstacle limitation surfaces, revisions to the aeronautical development layout to reflect environmental constraints, and a commercial and GA hangar precinct with new internal access road, taxiways and aprons.

We have recently been engaged to undertake the Merimbula Airport Master Plan 2023-2043 which will define in more detail the scope, costs and benefits of projects for implementation over the next 20 years.
