Western Sydney International Airport, Airspace & Flight Path Design

The Australian Government to provide expert technical services, support, and advice in support of the airspace and flight path design process for Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI).

To supplement the airspace technical planning and design team, we provided technical support and assistance to the Department throughout the planning, preliminary design and environmental assessment phases of the project to ensure that the overarching airspace design process:

  • Met the requirements of Condition 16 of the Airport Plan;
  • Was undertaken in accordance with contemporary standards and practice; and
  • Appropriately considered and managed relevant risks.

We have assisted the Department with the preparation of the draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) documentation and review of consultation materials. Following exhibition of the draft EIS we helped develop and assess refinements to the airspace and flight path design in response to submissions made.  We are currently assisting the Department with review of final technical papers and Environmental Impact Assessment chapters in preparation for publication of the final EIS in late 2024.
