L+R Airport Consulting has a long history of providing specialist airport spatial planning advice to the Qantas Group for its jet maintenance bases.
Our services have included:
Working closely with the airline to achieve maximum flexibility within the Sydney facility to accommodate the full Qantas fleet.
Navigating the introduction of the Airbus A380 aircraft to the fleet in 2008 to overcome a number of challenges concerning the manoeuvrability of these aircraft within the already constrained Sydney jet base site. Providing advice on the feasibility of various aircraft parking options and maintenance hangar configurations utilising existing facilities where possible, we helped develop a staged forward concept plan to accommodate increasing numbers of A380 aircraft to the maintenance schedule over a five-year period.
Working with Qantas team to develop parking layouts to incorporate the A380 and other fleet types operating to the USA into a purpose-built maintenance facility at LAX
Developing parking layouts to increase flexibility at the Melbourne jet base.
Most recently, working with the group maintenance team including Qantas, QantasLink and Jetstar to consolidate hangar parking layouts and incorporate the latest fleet additions including A321XLR, A220 and A350 aircraft types into the existing Sydney and Melbourne maintenance facilities, including full re-marking plans in line with CASA Part 139 MOS 2019 and relevant local group standards.
